The Koan of Dennis

Here is an ancient Buddhist Koan:
Two hands clap and there is a sound.
What is the sound of one hand? 

(Zen Master Hakuin Ekaku)

Interesting. Makes me think. 

On one hand, things should remain as they are;
on the other hand, they must change.

On one hand, people should look after themselves; on the other hand, they should care for each other.

On one hand, a person has rights;
on the other hand, a person has responsibilities.

On one hand, the court is the arbiter of law;
on the other hand, right and wrong live in the heart.

On one hand, be fair; 
on the other hand, be generous.

On one hand, tell it like it is;
on the other hand, make it interesting.

The Koan of Dennis:
If one hand dismisses the other,
how will you open the jam jar?
